Pharrell Williams takes over Paris' Pont Neuf for his Louis Vuitton debut
A new era for luxury house Louis Vuitton has begun. Rapper, singer, producer and now creative director Pharrell Williams has the fashion world eagerly awaiting his debut. L'Officiel Austria now shows the most stunning looks from the show.
Paris, June 20th 2023 - Under the artistic direction of Pharrell Williams, LOUIS VUITTON's Spring/Summer 2024 men's collection was presented. As expectations were particularly high for his first fashion debut, Williams didn't hold back when presenting the show. For this, the 50-year-old superstar transformed the Paris Bridge into a breathtaking catwalk filled with international stars. In addition, the show was accompanied by an orchestra and a gospel choir - the fashion show was simply a performance of a very special kind. However, opinions are unanimous: Pharrell Williams has impressed fashion fans all over the world as a creative director.
Pixelated patterns
Starting with the well-known Damier check motif, Pharrell Williams transformed the pattern into a playful, pixelated design. The design is seen on denim, in camouflage - or now also called "damouflage" - and a pixelated image of the Pont Neuf. A successful variation on the popular Louis Vuitton motif with a touch of Williams inspiration.
Casual skirts
Pharrell Williams has always been known for his love for cross-gender fashion. This vision can now also be seen at the LV show. A men's collection of casual skirts could not be missing from his fashion debut.
For the SS24 menswear collection, Pharrell Williams also brings back the Speedy bag. This time bigger, better and especially more colourful.
Colourful damier motifs adorn both outfits and accessories
Another eye-catcher on the catwalk was an imitation of the Louis Vuitton shopping bag, which many fans use as a fashion statement. This time, Williams created it as a true accessory to wear.
A denim two-piece as well as a collarless and fitted suit matching the parisian chic style with LV logos and pearl accents also dominated the runway.
Stars at the LV Show
Aside from the stunning catwalk and unforgettable performance, the Louis Vuitton show featured a number of stars in front row. From Jay-Z and Beyoncé, French rapper/singer Maitre Gims, Kim Kardashian, ASAP Rocky and Rihanna as well as fashion lover Lewis Hamilton - Pharrell Williams got support from the mega stars of the world.
To celebrate, there was an exclusive performance by Pharrell Williams and Jay-Z himself.
