Louis Vuitton presents: "Pacific Chill" - the new fragrance for this summer
Inspired by the Californian seascape and detox culture, Louis Vuitton's new fragrance awakens summer feelings with their fruity blend.
PACIFIC CHILL - The Detox Perfume with Blackcurrant, Carrot Seeds and Aromatic Herbs
As part of the Cologne perfume collection, luxury house Louis Vuitton presents the new fragrance PACIFIC CHILL by master perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud. The fragrance captures a feeling of well-being, vitality and pleasure that can be felt on the skin with the warming rays of the sun. Each of the Louis Vuitton Cologne fragrances tells a story about light: from the gentle sunshine of day to the twinkling lights of a city at dusk.
Altogether, the Louis Vuitton Cologne perfumes form an odyssey of fragrance inspired by the Pacific coast of America. They convey the atmosphere of Los Angeles, an imaginative city whose complexities, moods and environments constantly serve as inspiration for the master perfumer.
PACIFIC CHILL is a fragrance with a fresh, purist vibe, inspired by the famous Californian health and wellness culture. It is designed to invigorate the senses, uplift the spirit and provide a detoxifying effect. The fragrance reflects the regenerating power of the ocean, an energising force that is central to the body and mind in search of balance and well-being.
"One morning in Los Angeles, at a meeting with Alex Israel, we both ordered one of the detoxifying smoothies that are so popular in California. The vitamin-rich drink inspired me and I tried to describe the beneficial effects of this fruity mixture through emotion. Blackcurrant has an interesting temperament - it's vibrant, fruity, almost like a raspberry but lighter. It is also a concentrate of leaves, carried by notes of cedar and lemon.
The blackcurrant character is changeable, which I enhanced with a blend of coriander and ambrette seeds, basil, peppermint and orange extract. Hence the tangy character, like the feeling of leaves brushing against the skin. From the carrot seeds, I extracted an essence developed in Grasse. This carrot essence softens the effect of the green tones of the blackcurrant. The carrot shimmers with creamy, velvety accents of apricot, date and fig. It brings a lot of depth and adds structure. A touch of May rose adds floral sweetness and seals the union," says master perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud.
As the creative partner for the Maison's fragrance collections, Los Angeles-based contemporary artist Alex Israel has given each fragrance its own visual signature. Together, the fragrances capture a snapshot of his work, a multi-faceted collection of visual companions that create a cohesive narrative whole.
For PACIFIC CHILL, Alex Israel painted a Californian seascape as if it were an invitation to a secret hike in the Palisades. From a vantage point overlooking the Pacific Ocean, he seems to immerse himself in the energy of this idyllic place. This original and exclusive image realised for LOUIS VUITTON captures the unique feeling evoked by the view of the horizon. This new "Impression of the Morning Sun" envelops PACIFIC CHILL in the glow of early morning light. Alex Israel's colour palette of rich green with a touch of iridescent blue makes PACIFIC CHILL a creation characterised by calm, coolness and serenity.
The PACIFIC CHILL fragrance is accompanied by a Fragrance Trunk and a Travel Case that reproduce Alex Israel's paintings on Monogram Canvas - a testament to the Maison's attention to detail and savoir-faire.
The fragrance will be available in selected shops and online from 18 May.
