Come Back, Skin!
There is always a first time for everything in life, yet only a few of these first times will remain engrained in your memory forever. Without a doubt, we will all be looking back at spring 2020 and remembering how we spent it. Some of us probably spent the time visiting our beauty doc of choice: never in the history of the beauty industry has there ever been a better time to turn to your doctor of choice than during a state-imposed house arrest. Usually, a visit to the beauty doc results in a lengthy recovery time that we can rarely allow ourselves. Scars have to heal, bruises need to fade, and the skin has to regenerate before you can be seen in public again, albeit more radiant than ever before, like a beautiful phoenix that has arisen from the ashes.
A matter of trust
The doctor of my choice is Dr. Barbara Franz, who is so likable you would most certainly choose her as your friend! When I took a seat in her practice near the Votiv Kirche, I wanted to tell her: “Doctor, please take ten years off my face. I want a radical change!” However, the words do not really seem to want to leave my head, so we agree on a more gentle solution: the derma pen – needling’s descendant. You are left with a feeling that you have had something done and there is a little redness that lasts for a day or two. Dr. Franz swears by it. A good start to our first meeting, as, to quote the doctor: “once doesn’t count”. As with most other procedures, the pen treatment needs to be applied once a month to take effect. Tiny pinpricks injure the skin to stimulate collagen production and to help the snake serum mask, which is applied afterward, to penetrate the deep layers of the skin. “A good result, in this case, is an even complexion, as nothing is more revealing of old age than a blotchy face,” says Dr. Franz. “If pigmentation spots can be removed, and the complexion refined using the derma pen, you will be able to optically rejuvenate the patient’s face by a decade. Remaining wrinkles are no bother at all, as the goal is a natural-looking, radiant, and healthy appearance,” explains the professional.
Multitasking
More is better, and, in accordance with this credo, after your anesthetic cream has taken effect, you can also enjoy a vitamin C infusion given to stimulate the immune system. The derma pen treatment takes less than five minutes of your time! It is painless, and its application is quite unpretentious, considering that you are in a doctor’s practice. To improve results, Dr. Franz recommends her very own anti-aging cream (with a very high-dose which can only be obtained through the practice). It contains 10percent vitamin C, still the most potent free radical scavenger, vitamin A for pore refinement and collagen formation, as well as highly concentrated natural bleaching agents to bleach any remaining pigmentation spots and to further refine the complexion. Enriched vitamin A (also known as retinol) also facilitates the desired results. One dose lasts four months, and the results speak for themselves. Further procedures of interest include the “Profilho” treatment, also known as bio-modeling (this requires injections). It is meant to return my cheekbones to old glory and, at the same time, moisturize my skin. As the most innovative and most concentrated hyaluronic acid product on the market, it uses a special linking technique with low and high molecular hyaluronic acid. These proportions achieve not only a smoothing of the skin but also have a lifting effect. A build-up of volume can also be observed. Say no more - I am sold! We are approaching my dream face in large strides.
Prevention and care
My cheeks, which are already slipping down towards my jaw, have a detrimental effect on my smile, and so I worry that I will soon have to endure a “Merkel lip” (based on Angela Merkel). Dr. Franz’s recommendation to soothe my fears is as follows: “The trick here is to numb the muscle that pulls the mouth downwards in the right places using a minimal amount of Botox and, above all, to start treatment in time.” A warning that I don’t need to hear a second time. In conclusion, we should keep in mind: comebacks are always stronger than setbacks, and this applies not only to the pandemic but also to my cheekbones.
