50 Best for Recovery: new initiative of the guide to support restaurants and bars

Covid-19 has, unfortunately, created some very unpleasant circumstances and led to the crises of the restaurant and bar sphere: someone has difficulties, someone doesn't know how and when to open and someone will not do it anymore… The World’s 50 Best Restaurant list, responding to the demand of the post-crisis reality, has created a new way to support the sphere.

To begin with, 50 Best for Recovery as a project proclaims: “Our aim is to provide tangible financial relief for the industry, as well as to offer helpful resources for restaurant businesses as they emerge from the pandemic and seek actionable advice and support,” and as follows, guide creates various ways to support the restaurants and bars.

First of them, for instance, is the very unique Bid for Recovery initiative- a series of auctions with extremely special and exclusive experiences to bid for in an online auction. One can spend 3 days with Massimo Bottura in Modena or with Vladimir Mukhin in Moscow, purchase rare cognac or wine selections, plant a tree in Mirazur restaurant garden or invest in the artwork of Alain Passard.

As an additional contribution, you may purchase an online copy of “Home Comforts Recipe Book” - a special edition which embodies chef’s recipes of their comfort food they usually cook at home for their families and friends, from simple and affordable ingredients, easy to replicate in any kitchen. As a compliment, there are also some cocktails recipes from the best bartenders of the world from the list of 50 Best Bars of The World.

As well, you can simply donate a sum of money to the World’s 50 Best Recovery CIC, a not-for-profit community interest company that will distribute all proceeds of the Recovery Fund to restaurants, bars and non-profit organisations supporting the sector through the direct grants, thanks to nonprofit organizations as Lee Initiative’s Restaurant Reboot Relief Program (US); Black Urban Growers (US); Nosso Prato (Brazil); the Eat Out Restaurant Relief Fund (South Africa); the National Restaurant Association of India’s Feed the Needy campaign (India); Horeca Next (Belgium); Ambasciatori del Gusto (Italy); the newly founded Singapore Cocktail Bar Association (Singapore); and Chefs for Spain, the Spanish arm of World Central Kitchen.

Another form to help is a 1 million meals option: The World’s 50 Best Recovery CIC will put together the forces with Social Gastronomy Movement in its Food Solidarity Fund in order to provide 1 million meals to those most in need.

Recovery Hub - is another one possibility to take part and not to stay away of this movement. This will be an online platform where some useful and inspirational information is selected for those who seek for some pieces of advice on how to sustain and rebuild the industry in the new reality terms.

Last but not the least: in September, The World’s 50 Best Restaurants will held online Recovery Summit dedicated to the topic of thriving from the crisis once again, studying the new ways of working and looking for the new visions and perspectives. Some online masterclasses, talks, case studies, interviews and discussion forums are also intended to be in program.

Fair to say if we conclude: The World’s 50 Best Restaurants guide puts loads of efforts to sustain restaurants and bars, they do notable work and a great deal and all of us can take part in this initiative.

Let’s collaborate and help our favorite places shine even brighter!

We can do it.
