What is a yoga retreat?

During a yoga retreat, you spend a certain amount of time (usually four to seven days) in one place. The organisers often choose a quiet hotel in the countryside. You could call it a 'yoga holiday'. Programmes are offered all year round and in many different countries. Depending on the retreat, different yoga techniques are offered.

The programmes also vary: Some retreats offer more yoga classes throughout the day and shared activities, such as a nice group evening in a cosy atmosphere or walks, while others leave more room for free time, which can be organised by the participants themselves. The focus of all retreats is on relaxation and rejuvenation. Supplements such as meditation or yoga sessions in the countryside allow you to switch off.

It also improves posture and sleep. The breathing exercises used in yoga strengthen the heart, lungs and nervous system. Yoga helps regulate our hormone levels, stimulates digestion and is good for our brain. It improves concentration and increases performance.


All you need for a yoga retreat is comfortable clothing, towels (if you don't already have them) and a yoga mat. Then you're ready to start your spiritual journey to yourself.
