And Cut! The 90's Bob Comes Back

All the skewered attributes that have previously been attributed to the bob, are now obsolete. THE haircut from the 90s is back, and its more modern and youthful than ever. What, and especially who, is behind this revival.

What a start! Right at the beginning of New York fashion week last September, fashion was pushed into the background and a new hair- cut became the focal point. None other than model Kaia Gerber debuted her look, which was dubbed “Drama Cut”. The man responsible for it was none other than star stylist Guido Paulau. The cut is a medium-length bob that ends just below the chin and can, therefore, be worn practically as a braid but is preferably styled in light waves. The parting does not have to be drawn exactly down the middle and is reminiscent of the grunge era of the 90s. After all, music legend Kurt Cobain served as the inspiration.

After such a debut, it is hardly surprising that the haircut overshadowed the competition for the rest of the season and was consequently seen on the catwalks of Bottega Veneta, Isabel Marant, and Unravel. In the case of Kaia Gerber, this is not so much a calculated publicity stunt as to remain at the center of attention, but rather a feat in self-determination and a portrayal of her maturing process. Even though this fact did not make it into the headlines, it is still a noteworthy side thought to justify the hype all the more.
