The courage to use colour: these trends are a must for this year's Christmas tree.

The quiet and festive time of the year begins again. It's getting darker outside, the smell of delicious treats is everywhere and it's getting cosy in the house. Of course, this includes the right Christmas decorations and, above all, the Christmas tree.

As is the case every year, there are clear trends for Christmas tree decorations in 2023. Evergreens such as muted tones will be complemented by soft statement colours. Here are our decorating tips:

1. Glamour & Extravagance

Beautiful baubles and elaborate decorations are the order of the day this year. This applies not only to table decorations, but also to the Christmas tree. The matching colours are gleaming gold and dark burgundy. Christmas tree balls with intricate decorations, unusual shapes or opulent materials such as feathers add to the splendour.

2. Clean & minimalistic

Plain colours are a classic when it comes to Christmas tree decorations. Plain white baubles in particular, or mixed with clear or black baubles, create a clean look in the living room. To make sure it doesn't look too cold, a string of warm lights is the perfect highlight. If you want to spice things up a bit, you can spray artificial snow on the tops of the trees.

3. Natural materials for a sustainable Christmas

As sustainability becomes more important, we are seeing a trend in our Christmas decorations. In terms of colour, warm tones such as beige, brown, creamy white or green are in demand. Natural materials such as pine cones, straw, cotton or cinnamon sticks are stylishly incorporated into tree decorations. Crocheted ornaments and paper decorations are also popular. Paper stars in different colours or little wish lists decorate the tree.

4. Romantic Christmas

Another trend is the poetic-romantic style. Playful patterns are combined with soft colours. The palette ranges from soft green or velvety beige to red and sky blue. There are no limits to creativity. Flowers, ruffles and bows enhance the look.

5. Refreshing pastel shades

If you don't fancy classic colours on your Christmas tree, soft pastels are the way to go. Shades of pink, lavender, lilac, sky, light blue, lemon or mint bring a welcome change to the tree. The rest of the decorations should match the tree.
