On Self-Love and Confidence: L'Officiel Austria's Digital Cover Girl, Hanny Mousavi
You are the founder of a swimwear and resort brand that is based in LA. Tell us a little about Alpha Wolves Swim and how you came about founding the brand.
Alpha Wolves Swim came to me in a dream, a little after the loss of my mom. I was in a dark place, one of grief. But my mother has always wanted me to be a successful business woman and to follow my dreams here in America. I used my grief and channeled it into something powerful. Alpha Wolves Swim. A fierce name, one of survival but also leadership. Taking the hands of others and showing them there is a way out of grief and it can be beautiful and creative.. Becoming a conscious creator of our lives, rather than a victim of our circumstances. Breaking mental barrier and limitations. That is what the brand stands for. The Wild, Strong and Free women.
You preach self-love and confidence. Tell us a little about your personal journey to truly loving yourself.
I believe that self love is a practice. You must work through all of your inner wounds, in order to reflect the beauty of your healing in the physical. Confidence on the other side, to me, comes a little more after each challenges you overcome. Like “ I’m really that bitch” excuse my French. (Haha) The more you achieve in life, and the more confidence comes to you. You realize that the physical is just an extra, that however still needs to be maintained for your own health.
Sustainability is important to you and this is reflected within your swimwear brand. Why and how is this the case?
Sustainability is very dear to me, because our planet is giving us so much, that we must protect her in return. We cannot do business in selfish ways. Not in 2021. That is why Alpha Wolves Swim supports innovation that pushes superior quality with a smaller environmental footprint. Our choices of fabric reduces greenhouse gas emissions. We are proud to break the cycle of waste in fashion and create a more sustainable future by being ethical and eco-conscious.
What are qualities that a female entrepreneur must have, in your opinion?
The qualities that I believe a female entrepreneur should have is absolute leadership, confidence and most importantly resilience. To have the skill of focus and execution. Even if that focus is challenged by different events in life, good or bad, the need to maintain the journey is the key. Another quality is to keep a flexible mind, and adjust with time, trends, and customers needs.
What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future is to expand Alpha Wolves Swim and open stores globally. I want to inspire leadership, and freedom of mind because the sky truly is the limit. I am also currently writing my first book, that talks about the process that got me to this golden state of Mind. I wish to help others heal and believe in themselves. Life is too short to not do what you want to do. Never settle, that’s definitely something my mother taught me, and that I’ll teach my future daughter some day.
