The most important Fashion Trends of the Autumn/Winter Season
Tailoring
After masculine suits have determined the trend of the Fall/Winter collections in the last few years, feminine costumes will be added this year. In Petar Petrov's case, for example, the contrast is crucial: the masculine and the feminine, the flowing and the rigid, lightness and security. These garments are made as layered, soft armor for the modern woman. Luxurious, butter-soft leather and silk wool blends take their place alongside heavier, more substantial materials such as herringbone tweed and merino shearlings.
Leather
Vegan or not, the material of the hour is put into the limelight. Numerous labels and also fashion influencers rely on the trendy fabric and show us how versatile and elegant a leather outfit could be. Dresses, pants, shirts and blazers were everywhere at the fashion shows and were present at almost every designer, like here at Nanushka. The eternal leather jacket will be replaced by the shirt in autumn though, and that should be cut straight and oversized - because only then it can be combined as a jacket over almost any outfit. If you are looking for a real classic, of course you can choose a black model here.
Knitwear
The material of the hour. Cardigans over the summery silk dress, easy knitted dresses and - we wouldn't have thought so a few years ago - the slipover celebrates its comeback. Bourgeois was yesterday!
Since this sweater is sleeveless, it can now be used perfectly as a must-have in the off-season. This 90s men's trend gives your look a boxy, oversized effect. From cable sweaters and patterns to the minimalist version, everything is possible. Especially popular are the knitted pieces in off white, cream or light grey.
Midi Skirt
Fashion professionals like Anine Bing style two trends at once. Knitwear in an all-over look: a midi skirt made of cashmere to go with a matching top. In the fall and winter collections, designers combine calf-length skirts with braided or plain sweaters, blazers and denim jackets, a belt, blouses and high-necked sweaters (a high Victorian collar is just as topical) as well as classic shirts. The material keeps us warm and on top of that looks noble and stylish.
Fringes
Short, long, narrow, wide, with a modern interpretation or in a 20s flapper style: the designers of the big fashion labels love fringes and give dresses, coats, skirts and tops lots of loose threads as a decorative detail. So this trend resonates with every step, bringing dynamism to the fall/winter fashion 2020. Seen among others at: Bottega Veneta, Christian Dior, Prada, Jil Sander, Area, Stella McCartney, Oscar de la Renta and Burberry.
Prince of Wales Blazer
As the name already reveals, not only Lady Di serves as a noble style model this season. A must-have for every workwear wardrobe.
Whether in the office or in the evening, with a blazer made of Prince-of-Wales fabric you are always dressed cool, we here at Max Mara. For an incomparable look, wear a thin turtleneck underneath, combined with a chic slipover. You can wear it with jeans or in an ensemble with wide high-waist pants made of crêpe de chine.
Trenchcoat
Whether we need a new trench coat in autumn, we probably don't need to talk about that anymore. A timeless piece that rounds off any outfit. With its maximum length and monogrammed lining, the Musier Paris model is ideal for the off-season. It can be elegantly combined, for example, over a midi dress or a business look of suit and pumps. Or you can throw it over jeans and T-shirt to get a roll and interpret it in a casual way.
Red
One of the undisputed fashion and trend colors of the coming season. The name Valentino should not be missing. After all, the color is part of the company's tradition: the characteristic Valentino red has been part of almost every collection since the 1960s. In an all-over look, it is beautiful to look at on the catwalk, but usually a bit too present for everyday use. Individual highlight pieces, on the other hand, harmonize wonderfully with trend looks in cream white, brown and nude. And the combination of several shades of red also works wonderfully.
Flat Chunky Boots
While the Chunky Boots with their chunky soles had already become one of the most important shoe trends last year, the designers did well to pick up on this with a fresh idea for this year's fall fashion. One fashion trend is now the rubber boot. But make it Fashion. Like here at Bottega Veneta with green sole. A mega-trend also this season. No wonder, since comfort and coolness are combined in one shoe. A real all-rounder that goes well with a leather jacket as well as a delicate knitted dress.
Metallic
Balenciaga, Celine, Talbot Runhof or Rochas, to name a few. Perhaps the designers are counting on gold and silver especially in dark times, as a breeze of escapism from the insecure everyday life. When it comes to the metallic look in fashion, we immediately think of the Christmas party in the office or the New Year's Eve party. Even if the anticipation of a pandemic is somewhat dampened, elegant dresses with metallic finishes also work in everyday life. In combination with a high-necked blouse underneath like here at Paco Rabanne. Or if you prefer to take a bite out of the apple, start with a beautiful silver top under a blazer or matching trousers.
