H&M Studio AW22 - Futuristic glamour meets bold minimalism
H&M Studio's latest collection blurs the boundaries between reality and fantasy. H&M Studio is one of H&M's most fashionable collections - developed by an in-house design team at the brand's Stockholm studio. These limited-edition collections are launched every six months. Bold colours and slim silhouettes are combined with heavy fabrics and modern accessories for a vibrant take on minimalism, creating a futuristic wardrobe.
SPACE AGE FASHION
The beginning of the resurgence of futuristic fashion, also known as space age fashion, can be traced back to the 1960s. Fashion at that time was strongly characterised by rebellion and revolution. Skirts became shorter, colours became brighter and patterns became wilder. When the journey into space and the first moon charge took place in the mid-1960s, these historical events also had a direct influence on the fashion world. The most famous designers who were ahead of their time include André Courrèges, Paco Rabanne and Pierre Cardin. The special thing about their creations: Each garment shows their take on what fashion could look like in the future. Materials such as aluminum, leather, and feathers were integral to Space Age fashion and could never be missing from many of Paco Rabanne's creations.
One of the most famous collections of the Space Age Fashion era is "Moon Girl" by André Courrèges. The futuristic looks feature miniskirts, trapeze dresses, in a very simple yet geometric style and in the typical futuristic colours of white and silver. Extravagant accessories such as oversized round sunglasses and hats underline Courrèges' futuristic vision.
H&M STUDIO AW22
Now the H&M studio presents their A/W 2022 collection, available from 13 October on hm.com. The key pieces are made for unique adventures - a cozy fuchsia anorak, a chocolate double-breasted suit with shoulder pads and a turquoise maxi fleece jacket will turn heads on cold winter days. A high-fashion take on a three-piece suit - an oversized blazer teamed with flared trousers or a versatile skirt - will solve any work outfit dilemma. For cocktail hour, a silver sequin dress with flounces or a shiny metallic shirt with matching trousers conjures up a unique star power look. Glittery overknees in chocolate brown, a bright pink padded clutch, sci-fi sunglasses, and a rhinestone-studded braided necklace can transform any look and are real head-turners. In line with H&M's sustainability goals, each piece in the collection is made from more sustainable materials, using Tencel™, recycled polyester, recycled wool, and recycled brass.
"For this A/W collection, the H&M Studio team asked themselves the question: How will we dress in the future? We discussed space missions and took inspiration from them. The result is edgy minimalist silhouettes that inspire confidence and are combined with bright colours. We want our customers to dare to dream more," says Ann-Sofie Johansson, Creative Director at H&M.
"Our mood board was full of space images, and the design team thought about what to take on a trip into space. We decided on a mix of practical functional pieces and eye-catching fashion pieces. The silver two-piece is my favorite look! I would pair the silver trousers with the padded grey t-shirt and the rhinestone necklace - it's a great alternative for a party dress," says Linda Wikell, Concept Designer for H&M Studio.
