Meet the designer who dissects Prada & Co.
Have you ever imagined taking used parts from the biggest brands in the world and building a completely new product? That's exactly what Dutchman Duran Lantink is doing.
For his fall/winter 2021/22 fashion show, the designer transformed a pile of clothes from Balmain, Balenciaga, Prada, Proenza Schouler, Vetements, Marine Serre, and many others into brand new upcycled-style looks.
The fashion industry is the second most polluting and that is why it is in a race against time to reduce its impact on the environment. Several designers and brands are looking for alternative materials, such as recycled and organic fabrics.
Duran's work is so extraordinary that it has already been recognized by the industry: he was a finalist in the LVMH Award, collaborated with brands like Ellery, and created personalized pieces for megastars like Billie Eilish and Janelle Monáe.
But it doesn't stop there and the stylist has just announced a very ambitious project! In partnership with Auverture, Duran manufactured a series of jewels that are the union of two of the largest companies in the segment and rivals: Tiffany & Co and Cartier. The novelty is scheduled to be released next June 1st.
