#PFW: Y/PROJECT Shows Eclectic Versatility
Breaking down boundaries, distorting the familiar and bringing together what at first glance doesn't seem to fit - designer Glenn Martens' new collection for the renowned label Y/PROJECT is a prime example of the eclectic and innovative style of the Belgian-born designer who has found a new home with his label in Paris. To mutant sounds by Strauss a real firework of creativity was offered: Historically inspired dresses reminiscent of the Tudor era find their authentic place as do Bavarian dirndl corsets to taffeta creations and pinstripe suits.
Clear stylistic elements are architectural blazers, asymmetrical plaits and an accentuated décolleté. Delicate lace is represented as well as opulent velvet in a lush red. Body-hugging cuts and crop tops line up effortlessly with flowing silhouettes and voluminous coats - also an absolute masterpiece from a technical point of view. With its latest collection, the young label proves why it rightly ranks among the highlights of the Paris Fashion Week and also that there is still something new to discover even in the repetitive field of fashion.
