Ferrari Roma Spider: La nuova dolce vita - a new chapter begins
World premiere in Marrakech: The Ferrari Roma Spider, the latest model from Maranello, was presented to customers worldwide at an exclusive event at El Badi Palace at the beginning of the year. L'Officiel Austria had the chance to finally see the model up close.
A timelessly elegant high-performance car, the Ferrari Roma Spider delivers a modern interpretation of the chic and fun Italian lifestyle of the 1950s and 60s. The new Spider inherits the proportions, volume and specifications of the hugely successful Ferrari Roma V8 2+ concept. What sets it apart is the fabric top: 54 years after the appearance of the 365 GTS4 in 1969, the Cavallino Rampante presents this solution again in a front-engined model.
A novel and modern interpretation of the soft-top design emphatically underlines the exuberant and boisterous character of the Ferrari Roma Spider - rounded off by wide-ranging options for personalisation, such as sophisticatedly woven, tailor-made fabrics and elegant contrast stitching. Among the functional qualities of the new Spider is the fact that the soft top can be retracted in just 13.5 seconds - and at up to 60 km/h. The compact dimensions of the roof also benefit the boot space and versatility of the newcomer. A newly developed, patented wind deflector has been integrated into the backrest of the rear seat. It can be extended on the centre tunnel at the touch of a button and guarantees maximum comfort without taking up excessive space.
The Ferrari Roma Spider is enriching and uncomplicated to drive - yet extremely dynamic and responsive. This makes it the perfect companion for a weekend out of town as well as for long journeys. And all with the beguiling Ferrari V8 soundtrack as the backdrop. At the same time, the new model is versatile. For example, thanks to the class-leading luggage compartment with folding rear seat backrests that make it possible to carry larger items, and wireless connectivity via Wireless Android Auto and Wireless Apple CarPlay as standard. Not forgetting, of course, the 18-way adjustable and heated ergonomic seats, which are also available with an optional neck warmer for colder days.
Exterior
The stylistic approach to the exterior of the Ferrari Roma Spider focuses on clarity of design and a perfect symbiosis between its various elements. The harmonious proportions and the pure, elegant volumes are fully in keeping with the great tradition of the Ferrari GT models with front engine. At the same time, the designers have interpreted these classic proportions in a modern way, giving the model a refined, contemporary elegance. The elongated bonnet emphasises the slender silhouette and gives the entire body an expression of suppleness and dynamism. The almost sober-looking and rather plain vehicle front appears to be formed from a single block of metal. This results in a "sharknose" effect with a widely protruding "nose".
The bonnet and the curvaceously curved wings flow into each other, they also harmonise effortlessly with the traditional Ferrari stylistic elements. In doing so, the designers have preserved the minimalist elegance of the forms by dispensing with any vents or superfluous decorative features. In fact, the configuration of the Launch model does not even include the Scuderia Ferrari shields on the sides - an approach already taken by the road models of the 1950s.
The key facts summarised once again:
- The soft top is available in a range of fabrics and bespoke options - it offers acoustic comfort on a par with a retractable hard top and opens in just 13.5 seconds at up to 60 km/h
- A patented wind deflector integrated into the rear seat backrest ensures maximum driving comfort
- With its 456 kW (620 hp) biturbo V8 and Ferrari Roma driving dynamics systems, the new Ferrari Roma Spider offers an unrivalled blend of timeless elegance, consistent driving pleasure, sumptuous performance and indulgent comfort
