Goodbye dark circles - Our Tips for a fresher Look!
Everyone is probably familiar with dark circles under the eyes. Whether it's after a long night or constant stress in everyday life, these dark shadows keep coming back up under the eyes. These are initially due to harmless causes and are simply often a sign that we should give our body a break. In most cases, it helps to drink plenty of water, get some fresh air or, in an emergency, cover them up with a little concealer. In addition, some people have a genetic predisposition, so dark shadows are a chronic problem. In the rarest of cases, however, there may also be a health problem, such as iron deficiency, in which only a visit to the doctor can provide clarification. But take it easy. Most of the time, dark circles are a cosmetic problem that can easily be solved preventively and holistically. L'Officiel Austria therefore shows you the most effective and simplest means of combating annoying dark circles under the eyes.
How do dark circles under the eyes develop?
At about half a millimetre, the skin under the eyes is very thin and almost four times thinner than the rest of the skin on the face. Bluish veins come through particularly visibly because of this. An unhealthy lifestyle, such as little exercise, alcohol, nicotine and stress, promotes a lack of oxygen in the blood so that it becomes darker. Depending on the condition of the skin, predisposition and age, the appearance of the dark shadows can therefore vary and appear in different forms on everyone. In some cases, however, hyperpigmentation is also present. In this case, no blood vessels shine through, but there is excessive pigmentation of the skin pigment melanin in the eye area.
Pay attention to your vital substance and water intake!
Women in particular should first pay attention to their iron intake, as menstruation can lead to an undersupply of oxygen to the blood. This in turn leads not only to tiredness and chronic fatigue, but also to dark circles under the eyes. It is therefore advisable to consume foods rich in iron, such as wholemeal products, green vegetables, dried fruits and nuts.
In addition, the trace element zinc contributes to a healthy metabolism and immune system. A deficiency leads to anaemia, which in turn affects the eye area. Zinc is found in abundance in nuts, mushrooms, legumes and oatmeal.
Furthermore, a sufficient amount of vitamin K can prevent dark circles under the eyes. Therefore, add especially green vegetables such as Brussels sprouts, broccoli and kale. Alternatively, you can also supplement the vitamin, ideally combined with vitamin D.
Last but not least, drink plenty of water! Salty food leads to water retention in the body, as well as around the eye area. These "bags under the eyes" look unattractive, but can be easily remedied. A low-salt diet and plenty of water can counteract them.
What you should avoid!
Toxins such as nicotine, alcohol and coffee are not only harmful to the cells of our body, they also dehydrate and reduce the absorption of oxygen in the blood. The results, as you may have guessed, are dark circles under the eyes. Furthermore, it does not hurt to cut down on junk and fast food, as they contain plenty of fat, sugar and salt, the excessive consumption of which can have not only aesthetic but also health consequences.
Optimise your lifestyle!
In addition to your diet, sufficient exercise and restful sleep play an essential role in your well-being and appearance. Therefore, consciously integrate breaks into your restless everyday life. For example, if you do a lot of computer work, treat yourself to a relaxing walk in the fresh air during your lunch break. You will see that the short stay outdoors is good for body and soul. In the evening, turn your attention to the sleep hygiene. Create an atmosphere that invites you to fall asleep. So turn down the lighting or alternatively light a candle. Remove everything that you associate with stress. This does not necessarily mean your mobile phone or tablet. A meditation app or a quiet playlist can also help you fall asleep. If all these factors are in place, nothing will stand in the way of a deep, restful sleep, so that you wake up in the morning fresh and without tired eye rings.
Helpful cosmetic remedies!
Simple home remedies such as cold spoons, cucumber slices or moist tea bags can quickly help to reduce morning puffiness and moisturise the skin. To do this, you can simply place the spoon or cucumber slice for a few minutes. The tea bags, preferably black or green tea, should be boiled beforehand and then allowed to cool before placing them on the eyes. Interestingly, the tea bags have the additional advantage that they contain substances that stimulate blood circulation and lymph flow.
In the long run, it makes sense to integrate retinol into your beauty routine. The anti-ageing ingredient not only helps against wrinkles, but also stimulates collagen formation and cell renewal in the thin eye area. A permanent application thus provides you with smoother skin, reduced pigmentation spots, finer pores and minimised wrinkles. But be careful when using it! Retinol is a potent active ingredient that should only be used every two to three days. To avoid exposing the skin to further stress, you should therefore always use retinol in combination with a sunscreen.
