Beauty from within: Talk with founder Rafaela Almeida

Just in time for the launch of OROBORN in Dubai, we spoke with the founder of the Spanish brand, Rafaela Almeida, about the beauty concept of Well-Aging and her vision.

Tell us more about the genesis of OROBORN!

Rafaela Almeida: "OROBORN is a brand created to meet the needs of women and men in terms of consumption of advanced drinkable supplements and to take care of themselves in a simple and pleasant way, without feeling like taking medication. We offer products that nourish from the inside out and that are also reflected on the outside. We have also developed natural cosmetic products that respect the environment. As for the brand concept, OROBORN means rebirth from gold."

What does ’Beauty from Within’ mean to you?

Rafaela Almeida: "For me, being beautiful from within means being healthy, full of energy, with beautiful glowing skin, shiny hair and naturally strong nails. This can only be achieved with a good diet, healthy lifestyle habits, sport, eliminating alcohol, the right amount of sleep and adequate daily rest and with the help of premium food supplements, as is the case with OROBORN products."

Can you explain to us the growing demand for evidence-based claims?

Rafaela Almeida: "There is still a lot of lack of knowledge on this field by consumers. We all know that it is important to take vitamin C, for example, but in what quantities? As for collagen, the same thing applies, what quantity, frequency, etc. are still up to the field of research, which we can and should trust. In terms of advertising claims, we use ingredients with proven, scientifically-based efficacy in our OROBORN products - as in the case of Peptane Fish Collagen, a formulation that promotes the natural formation and absorption of collagen, in combination with hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, biotin and zinc. As the founder and managing director, I always test all products myself."

We are curious and excited at the same time regarding the collaboration with Mireia Lalaguna, who was recently in front of the camera with L'Officiel Cyprus for the FW2023 editorial. Can you share some secret insights?

Rafaela Almeida: "Mireia Lalaguna is a model and professional in the world of image and beauty that I love. She has a fresh and natural beauty that represents our values. She has just won the Luxury Awards prize in Spain a couple of days ago, for her career in the beauty and image sectors. She is the only Spaniard who has lifted the Miss World crown till now. In addition, she is a pharmacist and her knowledge in the field also is aligned with our products, it's a truly differential point. On a personal level, she is a friendly, close and intelligent person who has added value to our campaign with her experience and perspective. I am very happy to be able to count on her and I am sure that it will be a very successful collaboration for both parties."

After Latin America and UAE – When are you coming to Austria?

Rafaela Almeida: "I would love to, hopefully soon with our European expansion. We are gradually opening the markets and in the search for representation at the distribution level with companies that become real partners and that share our philosophy. Personally, I love Vienna, its streets, cafes, culture... Gustav Klimt is an inspiration and one of my favorite painters."

One last fashion question: can you tell us the designer of the gold dress Mireia is wearing in the campaign? 

Rafaela Almeida: "Of course! The dress carries the signature of Olga Macia. We are planning a joint catwalk event. Let us surprise you!"
