Inspiring: What Museum Shops offer to Deliver to our Doorsteps

"Shall we go to the museum again?" - For many, it may not always be possible to indulge in the pleasures of art in their stressful everyday lives, but there is also online shopping for that art kick in between. We've had a look around!

Museum shops have it all. No, really! This is not meant ironically, but absolutely seriously. Many have extraordinary things to offer that you rarely see even in a world full of products and innovations. The selection of the assortment in many international and national (we'll get to that later) is extravagant and surprisingly good.

In most of them, you don't even need a ticket for a short detour, but can simply walk in next to the main entrance. Let's look at museum shops as concept shops in their own right that make the current exhibitions more accessible.

Yes, art can and should be accessible. And no, this doesn't mean a Van Gogh peck or a Monet puzzle with a lily pond motif! Although that - on the right people - already seems edgy again.

From MAK to Secession and Albertina Modern

Both Albertina and Albertina Modern feature artist Ai Wei Wei via cloth and Basquiat via a special skateboard object that you can hang on your wall. On it: the cover of the song "Beat Bop", which Basquiat created for the rappers "Beat Bop" Rammellzee and K-Rob.

The Vienna Secession often presents Austrian artists' collaborations in its shop. Currently, you can find three different jumpers from the designer label WENDY & JIM, which were created in collaboration with the Italian-Austrian artist Siggi Hofer. Photo: Iris Ranzinger

  • The handmade "Daemon Vase" in black and purple is meant to evoke feminine strength, independence and self-protection. The design is by Gergei Erdei, who worked at Gucci under Alessandro Michele and then started his own interior brand. Found in the shop of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao.
  • A MoMA Exclusive: by Dutch designer Lara van der Lugt, who produced it together with Puik. Van der Lugt was inspired to create this carafe when she asked herself the question: How can we make people aware of how precious water is? The designer believes that we should value our water supplies like a rare diamond. The mouth-blown carafe can also be used as a vase, creating interesting light and liquid reflections.
  • Christina Lundsteen is at home in the Danish fashion industry. The creative has also designed a beautiful cushion series for Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek in Copenhagen. Each cushion is handmade to order in Denmark, all the fabrics for it come from Europe and each cushion has an animal-friendly and antibacterial down filling.
  • Is it a sculpture? You might ask yourself that when you first see the Soleri Cachepot by Ben Medansky. But it's simply meant to be a bowl for a smorgasbord! The artist's ceramics are collected around the globe and can be found in the online store of MOCA in Los Angeles
