HIGH ART

The Gallery High Art, located in 1 Rue Fromentin, 75009 Paris, premieres a bildungsroman opera in three laser-projected parts: Age of Coming, Coming of Age, and Of Coming Age‘ by Matt Copson.

The show tells the story of a baby at variance with a vindictive god, who tries to convince him that life is miserable and cruel, and nothing more. The baby, however, rebels and tries to overturn this authority figure to become the creator of life himself. We can see the baby creating new forms himself – drawing the second version of him with his magic pencil and giving birth to a clone of himself. The laser-show is accompanied with music by Caroline Polachek and lyrics written by Copson. High Art becomes a total theatre creating an immersive experience around the viewer.

193 GALLERY

193 Gallery is a young art gallery located in 7 Rue des Filles du Calvaire, 75003 Paris, that leads us on through tour of contemporary art from all around the world. Currently, 193 Gallery focuses on abstract art and the visual impact of colour through the exhibition: Colors of Abstract. Among others, Valentina Canseco presents us the principle of the liberation of colour, form and subject. Her works of bright colour, graphics and trenchant visual constructions invite us to feel emotions, freeing ourselves from visual reality. Other works like the sculptural artworks of Aldo Chaparro bring the variations of colours through matter to the centre of the artist's concerns.

KAMEL MENNOUR

In celebration of opening a new gallery space, Kamel Mennour is showcasing the first joint exhibition of the two important artists Daniel Buren and Philippe Parreno. The exhibition located in 5 rue du Pont de Lodi, 75006 Paris, presents us with two assembled works that have been elaborated together to conclude something about automation.

The exhibition investigates the way things appear and disappear – the unfinished existence of quasi-objects and the lack of and object’s existence without exhibition. The forms, colours, shadows and reflections of the work make us question our own vision. How does a form appear? How is it possible for something like that to appear? We can see a transcendence of boundaries between objects and space, making the gallery space an integral part of the artwork itself.

GALLERIA CONTINUA

Galleria Continua is celebrating the opening of a new gallery space too. The new space is located in 87 Rue du Temple, 75003 Paris and exhibits artworks by JR that unexpectedly occupy the gallery space.

The artworks are placed all around the spaces, fascinatingly inhabiting the walls and furniture. JR is creating visual illusions that seem to lead on a hallway and conquer hundreds of shelves. He says he wanted to create a” space where artworks are sold, halfway between a cathedral and a supermarket, it’s a place where we get closer to infinity and where we can buy consumer objects. For this new space, I wanted to bring together two universes, create a place that is lived by art, where we come to walk, where we encounter works by artists of many different generations, coming from 5 continent.“
