After numerous COVID related cancellations, I finally made it to Mykonos to find out for myself, what all the fuss was about. I was more than pleasantly surprised: in fact, it was quite a GRACEful experience. 

Enjoying the beautiful views of the sea from the plunge pool on our private terrace, constituted for my time best spent during this trip. Trust me, it will be yours too.

The Greek island of Mykonos has become somewhat notorious for its heavy pricing and the glamorous jet-setting crowd that comes with it. After numerous COVID related cancellations, I finally made it to Mykonos to find out for myself, what all the fuss was about. I was more than pleasantly surprised: in fact, it was quite a GRACEful experience.

September is a wonderful time to visit Mykonos. The weather is warm, yet not scorching, and the tourist masses have long left the island. Reservations, even to the most glamorous of places, are easy to come by. No queues, no waiting lists, no hassle.&nbsp; Prior to booking, I was informed of this fact by the reservations team at the Grace Hotel in Mykonos: my chosen area of residency during my stay. They remained true to their word in this regard, for which I am extremely grateful.

First things, first: accommodation is important. Let me explain why. On island filled with overpriced beach clubs, make sure to choose a place to stay that doesn&rsquo;t require you to leave your hotel, or even better, your room, for the full Mykonian experience. At the Grace Hotel Mykonos, belonging to the Aria Hotels group, a small, boutique hotel located only ten minutes away by car from the Old Town of Mykonos, in Aegos Stepanos, you can book a room with a plunge pool and a large terrace with direct views of the sea, inclusive of a large sunbed for two. Enjoying the beautiful views of the sea from the plunge pool on our private terrace, constituted for my time best spent during this trip. Trust me, it will be yours too.&nbsp;

Their mouth-watering breakfast deserves a mention of its own. It includes a fresh orange juice, coffee, smoothie of the day, sparkling wine, freshly whipped Greek yoghurt with fruit and honey, a choice between three varieties of egg (our favourite was the poached egg with bacon on toast), pancakes or another dessert of the day, and can be enjoyed in your room at no extra charge allowing for that extra bit of privacy for couples and honeymooners.

My Greek yoghurt experience, as served at the hotel, also deserves a paragraph of its own. The chef at Grace, Mykonos, whips the yoghurt by hand every morning, bestowing it with that unique texture and making it one of the most memorable things about my trip. &nbsp;My worry is that some Russian oligarch will poach him to whip yoghurt for breakfast on his super-yacht, and his talent will be lost to the rest of us, forever.

Service has been excellent, day in and day out. Greek hospitality is unrivalled. Whether at the <a href="https://www.ariahotels.gr/en/grace-mykonos">Grace Hotel</a>, where breakfast and concierge staff have been more genuine and attentive than any other place I have ever stayed, or at <a href="https://principote.com/">Principote</a> or <a href="https://www.nammos.gr/">Nammos</a>, and even at the extortionately priced <a href="https://zumarestaurant.com/locations/mykonos/">Zuma</a>: in Mykonos, any money spent, is well spent.&nbsp;&nbsp;

In true Austrian fashion, and as Schwarzenegger rightly said: I&rsquo;ll be back.
