Hollywood's Dirtiest Love Story "The Idol": Starring Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd
The new HBO series The Idol, co-created by Sam Levinson, the creator of the highly acclaimed teen drama Euphoria, the pop singer The Weeknd will finally meet with the audience after its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. The Weeknd also shares the leading role with Lily-Rose Depp, while Sam Levinson ve Amy Seimetz sit on the director chairs.
The shooting took place in Los Angeles, that the chaotic and, at the same time, seductive atmosphere of the City of Angels inevitably draws the audience into the story quickly. The Idol focuses on the career of Jocelyn, considered one of the most prominent pop music artists in America. Drawing a frame for the story with the music industry of Hollywood, the Idol will not only narrate the intense and sexy relationship between a secret cult leader who is also a mysterious nightclub owner and an ambitious female pop singer. Lily-Rose, who gives life to Jocelyn in the series, brings the artist's journey to regain her career after suffering a nervous breakdown with the audience. The Weekend, included in the story with the character of Tedros, a nightclub manager, reveals the twisted relationship between Jocelyn and Tedros, whose paths cross.
Although the published trailer evokes a familiar Euphoria atmosphere, there is no doubt that this production has a darker and much more upside-down story and footage. With content full of drugs, sex, violence and lots of rock'n'roll, the series is defined as ''the sleaziest love story in all of Hollywood''; even the Instagram page tells us what to expect.
The actors alongside Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd are Juliebeth Gonzalez, whom most of us know as the Teen Wolf'sWolf's Maya Eshet, Liz Sierra and Finley Rose Slater from the family drama Playing With Fire, Preacher'sPreacher's Tyson Ritter, House of Cards'Cards' Kate Lyn Sheil. It is also confirmed that we will see Suzanna Son, Melanie Liburd, Tunde Adebimpe, Steve Zissis, Troye Sivan, Elizabeth Berkley Lauren, Nico Hiraga and Anne Heche in the Idol. While it is possible to talk about a talented, extensive cast and crew, there were also some rumours that Britney Spears would play a role in the series. However, the speculations also ended as it was announced that Spears has no plans to return to acting yet.
While The Idol has released three trailers so far, even these tiny "bites" from the series reached millions of Youtube views. After appearing in Cannes on May 16-27, The Idol will finally meet the HBO and HBO Max audience on June 4.
