Tom Ford ... How could we describe him? Fashion designer, filmmaker and, without a doubt, visionary.

Born in 1961 in Texas, few men have influenced the style in recent decades like Tom Ford. With passages through Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent and his homonymous brand, the stylist has an elegant and unmistakable aesthetic and, amidst his countless statements, polemic or not, one thing can be said: he always knows what he's talking about or What are you doing. Today, in celebration of his 60th birthday, we've listed 8 style lessons we've learned from him. Check out!

1. When in doubt, choose the classic

Tom Ford doesn't really believe in color variation when it comes to tender. The classic shape that gives us strong shoulders, a tight waist and elongated legs is always ideal. Classic simplicity always works.

2. Be sure of yourself

Being safe is sexy, just like that. A safe person who always knows what he wants can get anywhere.

3. Don't think too much

When mixing prints and styles, don't think too much, just put them together.

4. Say no to cropped

"I hate the short suit trend. When a man's back is showing below his jacket hem, it's not my sexy idea."

5. Minimalism

Bracelets are always the best choice for Ford, but, as stated in countless interviews, they have to be small and simple.

6. Watch the clock

Never wear two watches, never wear them over your shirt and never - ever!!! - wear a sports watch with a tuxedo.

7. Comfort first

According to Ford, a man should always try to wear a suit during a normal day so that whenever he wants, or needs, he feels good in one.

8. Your shoes show your personality

Still following the 'comfort first' rule, choose a shoe that fits your style, but always with comfort and confidence. Whether it's a slipper or a dress shoe, they should always be in line with the moment and with the rest of your production. A good tip is: match the shoe with the watch strap. For Ford, this trick can save you in time of doubt.
