Menswear Colour-Trends 2021
2020 has stimulated our desire for versatile, timeless colours that embed us in a feel-good environment and security. The biggest change we can see in 2021 is the increasing urge to surround ourselves with colours that offer us some refuge; colours that represent hope and optimism, and colours that give us energy and keep us mentally active—the use of radiant and calming colours we also see in this year's men's fashion.
Pastel
Pastel colours give a feeling of openness, softness, calmness and serenity. Prada, Jil Sander, Dries van Noten and several other designers show head-to-toe pastel looks in their menswear collections for the coming year. We see balanced colour mixes and monotone combinations in soft pastel shades. Matching the blooming spring we can expect to see the first pastel outfits, but they will still accompany us into the winter.
Ultraviolet
Purple we see, especially in the autumn/winter collections of men's fashion - whether jacket, coat or shirt purple is the focus. The colour purple stimulates our imagination and spirituality. It is an introspective colour that helps to get in touch with our deeper thoughts.
Radiant yellow
According to Pantone, yellow has been declared the colour of the year 2021 together with grey. Yellow symbolizes the optimism, strength and zest for life that we are trying to lean on in the current situation. We see the energetic colour trend on some catwalks, including Dior, Raf Simon and A-Cold-Wall.
Red
The colour of energy, passion and motivation. From red details at Alexander McQueen to Gucci's bright red suits, the colour is an expressive trend in men's fashion 2021. As the colour of physical movement and activity, red awakens our physical vitality, especially the difficult lockdown situation.
