Louis Vuitton Men’s SS23: The Spin-Off Show
Ever since the passing of Louis Vuitton Men’s creative director Virgil Abloh the following collections so far have been presented honoring the late designer and his legacy. At the beginning of 2022, the Maison presented their first Menswear collection without the creative direction of Virgil Abloh. The looks were defined by colorful tailoring, playful accessories as well as a live performance by rapper Kendrick Lamar. And although Vergil Abloh no longer had a part in the show, his lasting imprint on fashion is clear.
Now just last week the collection has been picked up again with 10 additional looks. The SS23 Spin-Off Show took place in Aranya, China making it the first luxury brand hosted in the beachside community. The Set up consisted of a sandcastle-like inspired sculpture which reminded us once again of Abloh’s artistry and his sense for scenery.
This collection displays the transition from childhood into adulthood in a very poetic manner. The Maison allowed itself to play with childlike symbols, for example, the oversized clothing is interpreted as the idea that there is still room for growth while on the other hand, the more shrunken style is a phase that has already been outgrown. Other elements such as Paper Planes, Cartoon print, colorful prints, and accessories compliment the vision of this show much fairly. Along with the poetic prologue, Louis Vuitton invites its audience into a journey where there is no limit set to your imagination.
