Dior Homme unveils its first green collection made from recycled marine plastics
While the sunny days are finally making their return, the fashion houses are unveiling one by one their beachwear capsules dedicated to an assumed summer fashion. Dior for its Men's collection, did the double duty. To design this collection event, the house on Avenue Montaigne joined forces with the Parley For The Oceans association, which produces a unique material created with recycled marine plastic waste.
Initiated in 2019, joint research between the two partners, driven by a desire for eco-innovation, has given life to new yarns and fabrics, designed in Parley Ocean Plastic® - created with recycled marine plastic waste collected on coastlines and islands around the world (including the Maldives, Dominican Republic and Sri Lanka), then transformed into high-performance materials by Parley and its international network.
These fibers were then reworked in the heart of the Dior workshops; a challenge for the craftsmen who, from this revisited and recycled polyester – an alternative to virgin polyester – have produced highly qualitative fabrics, like a jacquard, a mesh knit or even a technical canvas.
Completely eco-designed, the collection gives pride of place to exceptional know-how highlighting the heritage of the house, flirting with a green approach, the starting point of this signature capsule. Sun-drenched creations, including Dior, branded flippers, a mask, and a snorkel for an ultra-couture snorkeling session, hoodies, t-shirts, and other Bermuda shorts to enjoy the sun's rays.
