Bill Murray and "New Worlds: The Cradle Of Civilization"
New Worlds: The Cradle Of Civilization, a feature-length concert film of Bill Murray, Jan Vogler, and Friends‘ June 2018 performance at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus in Athens, Greece, will have its world premiere Friday, July 16 at 8:45 pm at the Debussy Theater in the Cannes Palais des Festivals. A second screening will be held Saturday, July 17 at 4:00 pm at Cinéum Aurore.
On a glorious Greek evening, screen legend Bill Murray and world-renowned cellist Jan Vogler rock the Acropolis with a timeless mix of poetry and music.
Captured on film by director Andrew Muscato, Murray and Vogler are joined by the dazzling Mira Wang (violin) and dynamic Vanessa Perez (piano). The international quartet enchants the Athenian audience from the 2,000-year-old stage of the Odeon of Herodes Atticus with musical reflections on love, hope, and heartbreak. Spanning from Bach to Van Morrison, Whitman to West Side Story, the wildly entertaining, humorous, and deeply touching program is infused with the one-of-a-kind charm of Bill Murray.
To celebrate the world premiere, the group will exclusively come together to perform for the first time in three years.
New Worlds: The Cradle of Civilization is a co-production between Dorn Music, Makuhari Media, and Neda Film, and an Official Selection of the 74th annual Cannes Film Festival.
Jan Vogler and Bill Murray met on a plane to New York in 2013 and quickly forged a friendship, leading to the creation of New Worlds. The release of the respective recording on Decca Gold in 2017 was followed by a 55-city world tour all across North America, Europe, and Australia.
