Suisuee: Artisans of wearable sculpture
Inspired by Kerry Vesper's sculptures, Suisuee is the Munich-based minimalist jewellery brand you need to know.
suisuee [suisui:]
Established in 2020 during Corona pandemic Suisuee is inspired by Suee Chang's love for architecture. Its jewelry designs feature contemporary and sculptural shapes, making them distinctive pieces that promise to stand out from the crowd. Before she started her own jewelry brand, Suee’s journey in germany started as an architect for BMW and Porsche designs.
From her design inspiration to her commitment towards craftsmanship and high-quality standards featured in her jewelry, Suee tells us more about her journey in creating her jewelry brand Suisuee.
Her own vision of jewelry
Suee Chang set herself the goal of creating high-quality jewellery with a timeless design. She decided to design her own custom-made jewellery. In her quest to transform architectural forms into unexpected wearable designs, Suee Chang was inspired and influenced by artists such as Kerry Vesper and Zaha Hadid. Her experience in architecture and design immediately gave her work a presence and form that continues to drive her work forward.
This is how the suisuee brand was developed, a coherent, independent brand for marketing pieces that stand out in the world of contemporary jewellery and are designed to express the individuality of their wearer.
Today, suisuee is on the rise and is run out of a studio that has full control over the production of each piece ready to be shipped. With a unique combination of design experience, 3D design techniques and printing technology, suisuee presents timeless pieces that can be treasured for a lifetime.
"Suisuee was founded on the philosophy of unique self-expression through the use of jewellery".
The key-pieces
Giving shape to space is a process that can unfold on many different levels. In suisuee’s work, the distinction between jewelry and architecture are constantly in flux. Any work with space, whether on the level of architecture or bodies, is an act of translating mathematics into design. One example for this basic thrust is the Loop series, in which a ring, a bangle, an earring is designed as a graphic structure revealing the intricate mathematics of space.
Loop & Musical Note collection
Another example is the Musical Note Series. Starting out with the transposition of the time structures of music into the spatial structure of musical notation (specifically the bass and treble clefs), the pieces of this series are based on abstractions of notational symbols that are crafted in metal and stylized into earrings to articulate different topological possibilities. When they are worn, they hang from the ears as space captured in a system of loops and curves, evoking the possibility of sound.
Hon Collection
'Hon' means in the Korean language the believe about what is the essence that resides in the human body and controls as well as the body as the mind. It can't be either 'spirit' or 'strong mind'. 'Hon' represents the 'banyan tree' that connects soul and spirit.
