Year of the Rabbit: Gucci and Ferragamo celebrate the Lunar New Year 2023
Gucci and Ferragamo celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year 2023 with their "Year of the Rabbit" Capsule collections, which also anticipates the arrival of spring.
The Chinese calendar is divided into 12-year cycles. To the next cyclu, which begins on 22 January, the year 2023 corresponds to the zodiac sign of the hare. But what does this mean? Peace, tranquillity and renunciation of conflict: The sign of the Rabbit represents tranquillity and opens the door to a year characterised by happiness. And if 2022 was the year of the Tiger, 2023 will be rather mild and good-natured, led by a water sign.
In fashion, Gucci and Ferragamo celebrate the "Year of the Rabbit" with collections full of symbolism. Amid bright colours and naïve graphics, they pay homage to the Chinese calendar with a playful and over-the-top ready-to-wear collection that praises luck and prosperity.
Refined and joyful style for Gucci
The capsule-collection is called Year of the Rabbit. Max Siedentopf did the launch photo shoot in which models Emma Pei and Ruiqi Jiang pose with the Italian fashion house's new refined yet extravagant looks.
The Year of the Rabbit capsule-collection consists of exclusive garments and accessories that best represent Gucci's hallmarks and, of course, the spirit of New Year's Eve but also the arrival of spring. The assortment ranges from handbags to shoes to small leather goods. Each piece is distinguished by a cheerful, lively design, and at the same time fully in line with the trends of the moment.
Silk and plays of color
The Gucci collection for the Lunar New Year 2023 does not, needless to say, forget the typical elegance of the Florentine brand. In fact, there are silk dresses, quality knitwear and tone-on-tone color combinations. The Italian company has also taken care of a number of eye-catching and decorative details. These new creations follow the Winter 2022-2023 Après-Ski range by a few weeks.
Diana bags revisited for Year of the Rabbit.
Revisited Gucci handbags have also arrived. Most notably among them is the Diana range, which, for the Lunar New Year, is admired for its delicate hand-painted stripes that give the accessory an unusual look that turns from classic to jaunty. Also available is the Gucci Horsebit 1955 shoulder bag made of tweed, fine leathers and studded details. In short, there is everything to be original and as always chic for both the new year and the first months of the spring season.
Ferragamo's white rabbit
The white rabbit stands as a symbol of mercy, elegance and beauty and is the emblem of this Lunar New Year and therefore also the symbol of the FERRAGAMO LNY Capsule Collection.
The cheerful rabbit appears in an adorable print with peach trees and bamboo leaves. His huge eyes are featured in eye-catching graphics on bags and card holders. Rich reds, blues and whites enliven the dreamy deco landscapes that contrast with monochrome pieces in Ferragamo red.
The eyes of the rabbit
The eyes of the rabbit, photographed in macro, deep and pure like precious stones, as well as the silhouette of the rabbit are the central motif of this collection. Designed by Creative Director Maximilian Davis, the collection includes silk foulards, shirts and skirts, a jacket and T-shirts, low-top sneakers, Gancini buckle belts, small leather goods and iconic bag styles, including the Trifolio and Studio bags.
The new FERRAGAMO LNY Capsule will be available in Ferragamo boutiques worldwide and on ferragamo.com from mid-January.
