"Kingdom of Dreams": The new mini-series about the fashion world
Fashion afficionados can look forward to a documentary series: "Kingdom of Dreams". It's about the democratization of the fashion industry as we know it today - and creatives who became collateral damage.
The new high-end fashion docu-series for Sky Docs, from the makers of "McQueen", promises to be exciting. For four parts, we will get to know the mills of the fashion industry, in which many have become entangled, only to fall in the end. The movers and shakers back there (Kering, LVMH) who today divide up the world of fashion among themselves and finally the creatives who stand on the stage and on whose shoulders the burden of a billion-dollar business is enthroned.
Alexander McQueen, Marc Jacobs, Tom Ford or John Galliano will meet us in "Kingdom of Dreams". Their interwoven stories, which have shaped the last decades of the fashion world, are just as much the focus as the people behind the scenes. All of them are important fashion editors or models.
The focus will be on the history of the democratization of fashion over three decades, which started in the early 1990s and reached its first peak in the 2010s.
In chronological order, it will be shown how fashion grew out of the traditional, elitist circles of haute couture and the metropolises - such as Paris, Milan, London and New York - and became a global phenomenon.
For the docu-mini-series "Kingdom of Dreams", there will be rare footage, some of which has never been shown before, as well as personal and interviews.
Kingdom of Dreams will be broadcast on Sky Documentaries in the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany and Austria. In Ireland and Italy, the film will also be available to stream on NOW.
In Germany it is available on Sky Ticket, in Austria it will be available to stream on Sky X and in Switzerland on Sky Show.
