Hailey Bieber shows off the shoe she won't be without this season
On the occasion of Hailey Bieber's second collaboration with canvas sneaker brand Superga for autumn-winter 2021-2022, the model plays the question-and-answer game and reveals which shoes she doesn't want to leave this season. And it's not about trainers...
The Superga campaign for autumn/winter 2021 was shot in Malibu - what are your favourite places in the area?
Hailey Bieber: To be honest, I haven't spent much time in Malibu. One of my favourite restaurants in Malibu is NoBu.
What does your ideal beach day look like?
Hailey Bieber: My ideal beach day is a warm, breezy day where I spend time in the sun with good food and friends.
What is your ideal beach look and what do you have in your beach bag/fridge?
Hailey Bieber: Lately I've been drawn to a colourful bikini with denim shorts. I also often pack a tank top to throw on and a pair of classic Superga trainers because they go with almost everything. My beach bag usually contains a hairbrush, sunscreen and leave-in conditioner.
What does your morning routine look like before you put on your favourite sports shoes?
Hailey Bieber: When I wake up in the morning, I first wash my face, then I do my skincare, brush my teeth and think about how I want to look today.
How would you describe your style in 3 words?
Hailey Bieber: Simple, strong and expressive.
What are your favourite Superga styles from the current campaign/collection?
Hailey Bieber: I am obsessed with big white gumboots! I think they are a great addition to the Superga collection. I also really like the new Alpina ripstop high-top trainer with half laces. It's a more versatile style that you can really play with and move in and out of.
What makes Superga an iconic brand?
Hailey Bieber: Superga is simply a classic and always will be. Since the beginning, it has maintained a timeless appeal. This never goes out of fashion, and that to me is the icon, something that stands the test of time.
Superga is known for its timeless trainers. What does timeless mean to you?
Hailey Bieber: Timeless means something that can be worn over and over again for generations. The styles created can be worn for years.
Low or high trainers?
Hailey Bieber: At the moment, I'm interested in the low-waist models because I like to wear bracelets on my ankle and they are easier to put on and take off.
Beach or city?
Hailey Bieber: Since I'm originally from New York, the city still has a place in my heart. But I love the beach. I have to say both!
Trainers with or without socks?
Hailey Bieber: I prefer trainers with socks. Socks are a fun way to bring out the cleanliness of white cotton.
What's the best thing to wear with Superga trainers?
Hailey Bieber: The perfect companions to Superga trainers are other classic pieces of clothing. For me, that would probably be jeans or denim shorts.
What are you most looking forward to now that restrictions are being eased in some areas?
Hailey Bieber: I can't wait to travel again to have fun! I can't wait to continue exploring the world and returning to the places I love the most.
For the Autumn/Winter 2021 campaign, the collaboration with Gabriella Karefa Johnson continued and a new talent, Zoey Grossman, was invited to capture the whole vision. What kind of image did you want to create?
Hailey Bieber: This campaign was also an all-female team at work, and I think there was a strong sense of empowerment. Ultimately, we wanted to capture the spirit of Superga with a nice balance of fun and light-hearted energy. I always find Zoey's images beautiful and free.
For the spring-summer 2021 campaign you shot in a studio, for the autumn-winter campaign you shot on a beach. Do you have a preference for location?
Hailey Bieber: I like both - shooting in the studio and on location. They are two different experiences and nothing compares to either.
Jewellery is a very personal accessory. What can you tell us about your anklets? Are they the best way to adorn a shoe?
Hailey Bieber: I just like to play with jewellery. I think an anklet is a little unexpected and sexy. It's just a little something extra that enhances any look.
What makes Superga one of the most popular trainers?
Hailey Bieber: Superga is a reference shoe for me because they are comfortable, timeless and classic. Above all, they go perfectly with everything and everyone.
Where will your Superga trainers take you next?
Hailey Bieber: I hope my Superga trainers will take me to many places in the world, especially Italy.
