Dior opens its doors at 30 Avenue Montaigne in Paris
The unveiling of the magnificent façade of 30 Avenue Montaigne in the eighth arrondissement of Paris, preceded by two and a half years of renovation, finally took place yesterday. The iconic city palace, which was occupied by Christian Dior in 1946, has brought the house's collections to life for seventy-five years and has become emblematic of Parisian elegance and French haute couture. Today, the legendary and historic site has undergone a metamorphosis, transforming itself into a unique place, but one that still retains the brand's proud heritage and identity.
Christian Dior
Monsieur Dior's luxurious manifestations unfold across 10,000 square metres of the global flagship, which he also described as a "refuge of the marvellous". The new boutique combines the glorious past with the future. It houses a variety of spaces, such as the haute couture salon, the haute couture atelier, the high-end jewellery atelier, and men's and women's collections by Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano, Raf Simons and Maria Grazia Chiuri. Furthermore, 30 Montaigne has also been extended with the Dior Café and Restaurant, run by top chef Jean Imbert, as well as gardens and a private flat for VIP guests.
La Galerie Dior
Next to the Dior store is the unique exhibition space "La Galerie Dior", which traces the visionary art and history of fashion designer Christian Dior and his six successors.
In a stirring scenographic narrative designed by Nathalie Crinière, La Galerie Dior recounts the Parisian epic of haute couture, beauty and perfume. Thirteen themes illuminate Dior's memory via dresses from his time, his desk and dressing room to his passion for gardens, from artistic affinities, virtuoso ateliers as well as his "Hall of Miracles".
La Galerie Dior is open now, online reservation is required at galeriedior.com.
