A statement which could not have been overseen - Black King, directed by the Queen B herself, is a one and a half hour visual meant to convey the message of empowerment to the black community, and especially the women within. Indeed, by including some of the most breathtaking clips and outfits created especially for Beyonce and her team, by world’s most known designers, sometimes a look speaks louder than a thousand words. A visual movement centered around the African fashion and culture is also endowed with its scenery and history lessons delivered through art and music.

One of her most iconic looks featured a collaboration with Saudi couturier Mohamed Ashi, of Beirut-based label - Ashi Studio. The singer wore a handmade piece consisting of exotic bird feathers, which took 70 hours to create, as they were placed one by one on the bodice for the clip “My Power.”  The look can be said to represent fierce and untouchable power of a Goddess that lies within African women.

As an extension to the “The Lion King” movie, for which Beyonce lent her voice to, the series of empowering music clips also features her husband Jay-Z and daughter Blue Ivy Carter. Black is King is of this weekend available on Disney+
