Best in Show! Milan Men’s Fashion Week FW25
Rooted in tradition while embracing the future, this year’s Milan Fashion Week FW25 is a celebration of classic menswear like no other. Italy remains the heart and soul of traditional men’s fashion, and now it’s making a triumphant return home. After years of bold eccentricity, Milan Fashion Week and Pitti Uomo showcase clean lines, broad shoulders, heavy fabrics, plenty of fur, and, most importantly, a reimagining of traditional menswear for the Autumn & Winter 2025 season.
Prada: Deconstruction Meets Everyday Humour
The creative synergy between Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons continues to impress, blending Simons’ deconstructed approach to menswear with Miuccia’s playful and intellectual perspective on everyday fashion. Floral prints clashed with cowboy boots, fur collars adorned broad-shouldered leather suits, and whimsical jumpers paired with vibrant trousers. Described by Prada and Simons as “an expression of instinct,” this romanticized collection stands out upon closer inspection, thanks to its exciting yet essential individual pieces.
Dolce & Gabbana: Nostalgia and 60s Glamour
Dolce & Gabbana, too, draw on nostalgic glamour for the upcoming autumn. Inspired by Fellini’s La Dolce Vita, the Milanese design duo presented a collection of muted colours, flowing cuts, and an abundance of faux fur. The highlights were reinterpretations of classic menswear staples, including pinstripe suits, tuxedos, and low-rise denim. Simpler than usual, the collection is an homage to the effortless cool of the 1960s.
Zegna: Wool and Elegance in Perfect Harmony
Alessandro Sartori’s Zegna once again masterfully merges classic tailoring with high-quality materials. Vellus Aureum, the name of the collection, pays tribute to wool craftsmanship, which remains its primary focus. With broad-shouldered blazers, high-waisted trousers, and clean-cut coats, Sartori’s vision of the modern man prioritizes essence over excess, offering a seamless balance between comfort and elegance.
JordanLuca: Streetwear Meets Sophistication
A fashion show turned live-streamed wedding—Jordan Bowen and Luca Marchetto have matured, both in life and in fashion. Love, the theme of their show, almost overshadowed the designs themselves, as the duo exchanged vows at the end of their presentation, committing to a shared future both professionally and personally. Their creations, too, reflect a newfound calm. Still rooted in streetwear, JordanLuca FW25 feels like a reunion of old friends after a decade apart. The designs remain individualistic and playful but are now unmistakably more refined and elegant.
