About Balenciaga's latest collaboration with adidas
The tracksuit from adidas is now taking over the office. At least when it comes to Balenciaga. The French fashion house has now shown this collaboration for the first time during its New York fashion show.
The Balenciaga/adidas collection combines elements of sportswear and fashion, of which the creative language of both brands is part of a unique dialogue.
Familiar Balenciaga faces appear in the campaign images: Bella Hadid, Isabelle Huppert and Khadim Sock.
Portraits by photojournalist Joshua Bright and videos by Rosie Marks show how the "typical office" and its stereotypical behaviours: Boredom, aggression, stress and complacency. Included is an indefinable of an era, squinting at the late 80s and 90s: Stacks of paper, writing implements, landlines and desktop computers.
A contemporary version of "The Wolf of Wall Street". Not surprisingly, the clothes and accessories have just been presented for the first time in New York.
Within the Balenciaga / adidas collection, a jumpsuit is reinvented as a suit, complemented by high-heeled pantashoes; sportswear and iconic trainers from both brands. These hybrids show up in T-shirts, oversized jeans, the Hourglass Bag and exclusive Balenciaga jewellery pieces that feature adidas stripes.
The collection can be found on balenciaga.com, adidas.com/balenciaga and a series of exclusive pop-ups: Bangkok, Dubai, Los Angeles, Osaka, Seoul, Tokyo and Toronto. The Manhattan skyline behind the protagonists is the backdrop for a new era, without the influence of Kayne West aka Ye (with whom both Balenciaga and adidas have officially broken off their collaboration following recent scandals).
