A Gothic Goddess is Born: Versace Spring/Summer 2023
A collection about a dark gothic goddess. Black, violet and fuchsia are the colours featured in the collection, for a set of high-glamour, edgy, diva-esque looks.
"I have always loved the rebellious woman. A woman who is confident, intelligent and a bit of a diva. She wears leather, studs and frayed denim and has such a strong personality that she can afford to match them with chiffon, jersey, and even a tiara! She is strong and independent, beautiful and self-conscious. She is a Goddess of Freedom"
- Donatella Versace
What will the Versace woman do during Spring Summer 2023?
"She wears leather, studs and frayed denim and has such personality that she can mix them with chiffon, jersey and even a tiara!" The words are those of Donatella Versace, the disruptive artistic director who wanted to imagine a gothic goddess on her Milan catwalk for next season. The protagonists were the colours, intense black, poured over the first looks, but also purple and fuchsia, strong nuances declined on several garments. From long dresses that follow the lines of bodies to minidresses, fringed perfecto, macramé details and fierce studs. All topped off with the stellar casting that for Versace, ça va sans dire, is customary. Opening the show was a young model at the piano, and closing it was a pop goddess par excellence, Paris Hilton in baby pink. Dark and also bright, independent, the women of the Versace army showed what for Donatella will be the trends of the next season. And there is no doubt that they will win new recruits.
HIGH-GLAMOUR
The collection features dresses and tops with sharp slashes, while bold lines appear through graphic details. Silhouettes are overlaid by structured shapes that are at the same time fluid, composed and impulsive.
Freedom of expression
Inspired by the theme of freedom against the tide, each room of the show represents a different fragment that makes up the strong character of the Versace woman.
