Paris Fashion Week: Dior turns runway into a lifelike cathedral
Despite the digitization of the fashion weeks as a result of the current corona measures, the French fashion house Dior is not breaking with its traditions. As one of the few, the house hosts a physical show in the presence of the press, buyers and other guests.
For its spring-summer 2021 collection, the French fashion house Dior has planned an installation in the shape of a cathedral in the Jardins Des Tuileries for the occasion . For the coming season, artistic director Maria Grazia Chiuri will not only focus on a collection that is designed to perfectly accommodate the wearer, the Dior woman, but also clearly shows her reflection on social changes and current events.
For this spring-summer collection, Maria Grazia Chiuri chose the typical fantasies of a Mediterranean summer: airy chiffron dresses that float over the runway, deep plunging necklines revealing lace bras and an updated Bar jacket , a reinterpretation of the Dior silhouettes created in 1957 for Japan were created. The collection clearly responds to the needs of a woman who loves relaxation in all luxury and elegance. Just as it is often about female empowerment at Dior, Chiuri also puts female artists in the spotlight this time. To emphasize art history, the setting was finished in the form of photo collages created by artist Lucia Marcucci. The contemporary stained glass windows were composed of images from magazines that enter into dialogue with important works in art history.
