Dior Cruise 2021: Timeless Magic
The French fashion house Dior has staged its Cruise 2021 collection between untamed nature and the historic baroque buildings of Lecce, a southern Italian city that Maria Grazia Chiuri is particularly dear to the heart.
The Hong Kong-based photographer Lean Lui created a unique atmosphere for Chiuri's designs that is permeated with the magic and power of ancient rites . Through his lens, the view is drawn to the maison's virtuoso savoir-faire: delicate dresses with fine lace, maxi skirts inspired by traditional Italian clothing, corsets as a sign of reinterpreted femininity. Special highlights are the wildflowers designed by artist Pietro Ruffo, which, in addition to the fabrics, also adorn Lady Dior, Dior Bobby and Dior Book. This season, however, a new bag model is also moving into the spotlight: The Dior St Honoré Tote Bag is named after the symbolic Parisian district and inspires with clear, graphic curves and a removable shoulder strap.
The looks are brought to life to the haunting sounds of the conductor and composer Paolo Buonvino. The hypnotic choreography by Sharon Eyal shows the cathartic power of the ancestral dance »Pizzica«. A short film that magically combines fashion, nature and culture.
