Venturini was previously Vice President of Merchandising at Gucci, where he worked closely with Creative Director Alessandro Michele to implement the new vision for the label. He has worked for Valentino twice in the past. Firstly as Brand Manager for Womenswear and Menswear between 2000-2004 and later as Director of Ready-to-wear Collection in 2008, after three years with Prada.

"I am very happy to return to Valentino for the third time, the Italian fashion house that is my first love in fashion. Valentino means tradition and future to me, it will be a pleasure to work hand in hand with Pierpaolo," Venturini said in a statement.

Venturini succeeds Stefano Sassi, who has been running the Roman couture brand since 2006, and who deserves credit for leading the company's transition from a traditional to a contemporary label.
