Louis Vuitton has just announced its latest collaboration, this time with non-profit organisation (RED). Founded in 2006 by U2 frontman Bono and American activist, attorney, and journalist Bobby Shriver, the initiative has worked to raise awareness and funds for the fight against HIV/AIDS. Over the years, the charity has partnered with various megabrands to produce a range of limited edition products, of which a sizeable percentage of profits is given to support the elimination of AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria. Now, it’s Louis Vuitton’s turn to play a part – the luxury house has partnered with (RED) to create a candle, with $60USD from each sale donated directly to Global Fund to support efforts around the world.

The Louis Vuitton I (RED) candle is the work of the House’s Master Perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud, in tandem with renowned designer Marc Newson. Centred on the colour red (of course), Cavallier Bertrud has selected the finest quality natural ingredients for the scent, meant to evoke the universal emotions of love, freedom, warmth, and purity. The sweet, peppery, and floral notes of peony are fused with the fruity vibrancy of raspberries for a rich olfactory experience.

The classic candle design has been given a makeover by Marc Newson, featuring a white ceramic vessel fitted with a hand-sewn, leather handle to allow for portable convenience. All the details are coated in a vibrant shade of matte red in contrast to the cool white body, serving as a visual reminder of the candle’s association with (RED) and the fight against AIDS.
