Dyson goes bionic: Air-filtering headphones or mask?
The British brand Dyson, which is known for its high-tech innovations and has transformed everyday objects, such as hair dryers or vacuum cleaners into new "super products", now for the first time goes a step further and tries itself in an area that has not yet been tapped in this way. It's about high-tech, air-filtering mask that doubles as headphones. However, it is marketed by Dyson as "headphones with air filter", but: where is the difference?
Intended for urban people, this mask is an invention that represents the immediate connection with the thought of the "cyborg". And indeed: the filtering systems are reminiscent of gills, as known from fish.
The product helps to solve two global problems: air pollution, to which nine out of ten people worldwide are exposed according to the WHO, and noise pollution, which is estimated to affect over 100 million people worldwide.
Dyson Zone is an over-ear headphone that has excellent sound and advanced noise cancellation. It also provides the mouth and nose with purified air, as the electrostatic filtration captures up to 99% of particles down to 0.1 microns in size, such as dust, pollen and bacteria. The potassium-enriched carbon filter also purifies urban gases such as NO2, SO2, and O3.
The Dyson Zone air-purifying headset will launch globally in fall 2022. The exact timeline availability in markets will vary. A price has not yet been announced.
